How to prioritize your wedding planning

You’ve discovered by now that there’s a lot involved in planning the perfect wedding! You need to choose the date, venue, cake, photographer, videographer, limousine, invitations, favors, color scheme etc. It is a very overwhelming task.

My advice to anyone just starting out on their wedding planning is to take a deep breath and a small step back for a moment.

The two of you should sit down together with a notebook and just write down all the separate things that you need to include in your planning. There’s no need to get too detailed at this point, this is just the beginning, so keep your list at a very top level.

There are some things that might be more important to you and your finance than others. Prioritize to spend more on things to truly matter to you and cut costs on things that aren’t as important. Having made your list, go through it and give everything an importance rating from 1 to 3; 1 being very important, 2 being average importance, and 3 being less important.

Having decided on the relative importance of your planning tasks, you are now ready to start to investigate them all in more detail in the order you’ve chosen. The key point here is that setting priorities at the beginning that you can both agree on will go a long way to help your wedding plans go much more smoothly with less stress!
